This summer I have had the pleasure to experience music live with my kids Gabrielle and Cody. My son has followed my musical tastes a bit as he enjoys rock and my daughter is definitely a pop music fan who is mostly influenced by the great personalities on Disney Channel.

In August, my son and I travelled almost 4 hours to the Clark County Amphitheatre near Vancouver, WA to see Nickelback. Wow, what a great show. The concert started at 6pm and almost went to 11pm. For Nickelback, their 90+ minute performance included music mostly from their latest album "Dark Horse", the crowd was clearly most pumped to sing along to the song "Rockstar" from the "All The Right Reasons" album. Nickelback really put on a great show and sounded just as good live as they do in recording. The opening acts were great, too: post-grunge band Hinder played mostly new material, Papa Roach sang stuff off of their "Getting Away With Murder" album, and Saving Abel rocked their hit single "Addicted". We enjoyed ourselves so much that we contemplated going the next night to see Nickelback at The Gorge in Eastern Washington. But after arriving home at 3:30am we decided to get a little sleep that next night instead.

On September 16th, I took my daughter to see Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) at the Tacoma Dome. I was clearly in the minority at this event with about 1 in 20 at this concert being guys. It was a nice family affair as I learned that the lead singer for the opening band Metro Station, is the older brother to Miley Cyrus. The highlight from the opening bands set was their very popular song, "Shake It" from their self-titled debut album released in 2007. The Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) performance included a fascinating array of sets as well as outfits... wow, how do they change so quickly?! Miley Cyrus covered a large range of her new and old music that included the song "The Climb" from her album "Hannah Montana: The Movie".
