Biography

Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbandment of Overcast and Aftershock. Killswitch Engage's current lineup consists of vocalist Howard Jones, bassist Mike D'Antonio, guitarists Joel Stroetzel and Adam Dutkiewicz and drummer Justin Foley.

After signing with the Ferret label, they released their self-titled full-length debut in 200. They then signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records, releasing “Alive or Just Breathing” in 2002.

“The End of Heartache” was issued in 2004, peaking at #21 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The album was certified gold by Recording Industry Association of America in 2007 for the sale of more than 500,000 copies. The title track, “The End of Heartache,” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2005.

Their fourth studio album, “As Daylight Dies,” was released in 2006 and peaked at #32 on the Billboard 200. The album's first single, “My Curse,” peaked at #21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

They released their second self-titled album in June 2009 which peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200, making it the band's highest charted album to date.
