In This Moment is a heavy metal band that hail from Los Angeles, California, and came together in 2005 when lead singer Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth decided to form a band. The duo recruited drummer Jeff Fabb and started out as a trio called, Dying Star. Eventually the trio changed their name to, In This Moment, and added two more members to the fold: guitarist Blake Bunzel and bassist Josh Newell. 2005 saw a series of steady line-up changes begin with the band's bass player: Newell left and was replaced by Pascual Romero, who in turn was replaced by Jesse Landry; Landry by Kyle Konkiel in 2009, and Konkiel by Travis Johnson in 2010. 2011 also saw Fabb and Bunzel part ways with the band, with Tom Hane and Randy Weitzel stepping in to fill their spots. In This Moment's debut album, “Beautiful Tragedy” arrived in 2007 to mixed reviews. The band had been playing the local club circuit in Los Angeles up to this point and had built up a solid, and loyal, local following. The band followed up with their second album, “The Dream” in 2008, which peaked at #73 on the Billboard Hot 200 Album Chart. The band's third album, “A Star-Crossed Wasteland” emerged in 2010. It would be another two years before their fourth studio album emerged, “Blood” in 2012.
2005 was a turning point for the band when they inked a record deal with Century Media Records, and released their debut, “Beautiful Tragedy.” The album showcased the band's metal-core sound fused with hard rock, while the lyrics spoke to abandonment, isolation, tragedy, and pain, drawn from Brink's own personal experiences. The band embarked on a series of tours in support of the record, which included 'The Hottest Chicks in Metal' tour 2007; 'Ozzfest' in 2007 and 2008; in addition to the Megadeth, Rob Zombie, and Ozzy Osbourne tour. “The Dream” arrived and saw a slight detour in musical direction, with a focus on clean lyrics from Brink so that her voice and lyrics could be heard more clearly. The band hit the road again with Five Finger Death Punch, Mudvayne, Papa Roach, and Filter. They appeared at the 'Give It a Name' tour in the U.K, the 2009 Warped Tour; and the Download Festival that same year. 2010 saw the band play the Mayhem Festival alongside Korn, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Hatebreed, and Shadows Fall. The band continued to extensively tour for the next year before returning to the studio to work on their fourth studio album, “Blood,” which hit the stores in 2012. 2013 saw the band back on the road again and writing new material for their next album.
