Biography

Crystal Castles is an electronic band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, consisting of producer Ethan Kath and lyricist and vocalist Alice Glass. The band is known for their chaotic live shows and their lo-fi home productions.

The duo released many limited edition 7" vinyl singles between on various independent labels 2006 and 2007. In 2008, Lies Records collected most of the vinyl singles and released them together for the first time along with many previously unreleased tracks. The resulting eponymous debut album reached #6 on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart and #32 on the Independent Albums chart.

The band's second album, also self-titled, was released in 2010. The album was a longlisted nominee for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize and reached #6 on the Billboard Electronic Albums chart. The third single taken from the album, “Not in Love,” featured Robert Smith from The Cure and is a cover of a song by 1980s new wave band Platinum Blonde.
