The Veronicas are an electropop pop-rock band based in Australia. Twin sisters Jessica and Lisa Origliasso formed the band in 1999 in Brisbane. They have their own line of clothing which was released in 2007.
Their debut album, “The Secret Life of...,” was released in 2005 and reached the Top 5 in Australia and the Top 10 in New Zealand. The album has been certified 4× platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and won Best Pop Release at the ARIA Music Awards of 2006.
Their debut single "4ever" reached the Top 10 in Australia and New Zealand and peaked in the Top 40 in Italy, Ireland, Germany and UK and #12 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. The song received a nomination at the ARIA Music Awards of 2005 for Breathrough Artist – Single, and also achieved platinum status in Australia.
Their follow up singles, "Everything I'm Not" and "When It All Falls Apart" reached the Top 10 in Australia and New Zealand with the latter peaking in the Top 20 in Belgium. Both singles also achieved gold status in Australia. Their next single, "Revolution," reached the Top 20 on the ARIA Singles Chart and the final single from the album, "Leave Me Alone", peaked in the Top 50.
In 2007 they released their second album”Hook Me Up.” The album reached the Top 10 in Australia and New Zealand, the Top 40 in the UK and Ireland, while also topping the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. The lead single, "Hook Me Up," became their first Australian #1 and achieved platinum status. The following single "Untouched" became their international breakthrough song. It topped the Irish charts while reaching the Top 5 in Australia, Canada and Netherlands, the Top 10 in Finland, New Zealand and the UK and made their debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart reaching the Top 20. The single achieved platinum status in both Australia and the United States.
Their next two singles, "This Love" and "Take Me on the Floor," became their third and fourth consecutive Top 10 Australian hits and both achieved gold status. The album and its first two singles were nominated at the ARIA Music Awards of 2008 for Best Pop Release, Highest Selling Single and Highest Selling Album.
