Biography

The Civil Wars is an indie folk duo composed of vocalist Joy Williams and guitarist John Paul White.

The duo's first release, the live album "Live at Eddie's Attic," was released released on their MySpace account as a free download in the Summer of 2009.

Their first studio release, the EP "Poison & Wine" followed later in 2009. The songs "Poison & Wine" and "Tip of My Tongue" were both originally released on their live album,

The duo partnered up with Grammy Award winning producer Charlie Peacock to begin recording a full-length album in 2010. The result, "Barton Hollow," debuted at #1 on the Billboard Digital Albums chart, #12 on the US Billboard 200, #2 on the Billboard Folk Albums chart, and #3 on the Billboard Rock Albums chart. The album was preceded by the lead single and title track.
